Scientific focus:
This conference brings together theoretical and experimental physicists from around the world to discuss new developments in high-energy heavy-ion physics. The focus is on the fundamental understanding of strongly-interacting matter under extreme conditions, as formed in ultra-relativistic nucleus-nucleus collisions, as well as on emergent QCD phenomena in high-multiplicity proton-proton and proton-nucleus collisions.
Scientific program:
The conference will consist of invited and contributed plenary talks, as well as parallel talks and poster presentations. The scientific program will cover the following topics:
· Chirality
· Collective dynamics, small systems
· Correlations & fluctuations
· Detectors and future experiments
· Electromagnetic probes
· Heavy flavor and quarkonia
· Initial state of particle collisions and electron-ion collisions
· Jets
· Light and strange flavor physics, nuclei
· New theoretical developments
· Physics of ultraperipheral collisions
· QCD matter in astrophysics
· QCD phase diagram & search for the critical point
Schedule and venue:
The ``Quark Matter 2025 ́ ́ conference will begin in the morning of Monday, April 7, and end early afternoon on Saturday, April 12. The venue will be the Campus Westend of Goethe University Frankfurt am Main. The event will be preceded by a student day with lectures that will help the students to follow the scientific program on Sunday, April 6. The student day will be held on the Campus Riedberg of Goethe University Frankfurt am Main.
Registration:
Registration for the conference will be available via the conference webpage. It will open on September 1, 2024 and end on January 31, 2025. All further details will be announced in the next circular issued on the conference webpage and distributed via email in August 2024. Conference registration is on-line only, on-site registration and payment will not be possible.
Abstract submission:
Abstract submission for parallel talks and posters will open on September 1, 2024, and will continue until October 31, 2024. Abstracts can be submitted via the conference webpage only. Notification about selected contributions will be made by December 15, 2024, to ensure timely application for visa.
Early-career researcher support:
The active participation of young researchers is a very important aspect of the Quark Matter conferences. Therefore, support will be provided to early-career researchers (students and young postdocs) in the form of a reduction of the registration fee. Applications for support can be made at the time of registration until January 15, 2025.
Accommodation:
Frankfurt am Main and its surroundings offer many options for accommodation during the conference period. Note that Frankfurt is also a city of trade fairs and therefore hotels are often quickly booked out. Moreover, during fairs the prices increase tremendously. Therefore, we have negotiated discounted rates for retrieval contingents, i.e., a certain number of rooms in each hotel can be booked at the respective rate. The indico page lists these hotels (https://indico.cern.ch/event/1334113/page/33538-accomodation) and explains how the booking can be done. Note that retrieval contingents will be closed a few weeks before the conference, so make sure to book your accommodation well ahead of time.
Travel and visa information:
Frankfurt is very well connected and can be reached by plane through Frankfurt Airport (FRA) or by train to the main train station (Hauptbahnhof). From the airport or the main train station, you can reach the city center (Hauptwache) via public transport, see https://www.rmv.de/c/en/homepage for connections. Trains can be booked directly via the webpage of the German Railway https://int.bahn.de/en or by using the App of the German Railway “DB Navigator App".
Information on visa for Germany can be found on the webpage of the Auswärtiges Amt, https://www.auswaertiges-amt.de/en/visa-service/-/215870. An invitation letter for the visa application can be requested directly in the registration form.
Child care:
Child-care services will be offered during the conference. Interested participants are encouraged to notify us by January 31, 2025, and let us know how many children of what age they would like to bring to Frankfurt.
Please do not hesitate to contact us at qm2025@itp.uni-frankfurt.de, if you need additional information or support in preparing your participation in the Quark Matter 2025 conference.
Please feel free to distribute this email to other colleagues. The content of this email is also attached as a pdf-file.
We are looking forward to welcoming you in Frankfurt!
With best regards,
Harald Appelshäuser, Tetyana Galatyuk, and Dirk Rischke
