NuSym25 2nd circular
Dear Colleagues,
We are pleased to announce the XIIIth International Symposium on Nuclear
Symmetry Energy (NuSym25) will take place from September 8–12, 2025, at
the Integrated Innovation Building (IIB), RIKEN Kobe Campus, in Kobe,
Japan.
[Scientific scope]
The symposium will address experimental and theoretical investigations
of the equation-of-state (EoS) of nuclear matter at various isospin
asymmetries. Such investigations include efforts in nuclear structure,
nuclear reactions and heavy-ion collisions, as well as in astrophysical
observations of compact stars and associated phenomena. An important
role of the symposium is to unify efforts of the nuclear physics and
astrophysics communities in addressing common research challenges.
[Topics of NuSym symposium]
Topics of the NuSym symposium are related to the nuclear equation-of-
state (EoS) and symmetry energy that can be probed by laboratory
experiments, by astrophysical observations, and by microscopic theories:
- Nuclear structure and reactions
- Heavy-ion collision experiments and transport model simulations
- Microscopic calculations of neutron-rich dense nuclear matter
- Isospin and spin dependence of nuclear interactions and correlations
- Clustering in isospin-asymmetric nuclear systems
- Strangeness in nuclei and nuclear matter
- Astrophysical multi-messenger observations and nucleosynthesis
- Theory of compact stars including neutron star mergers and supernovae
- Future experiments and facilities

You may also request visa documents during the registration process.
[Support]
Limited financial support will be available for young participants
(students and postdocs). If your participation depends on receiving some
support, please feel free to contact the organizers at the email address
listed below. Please note that submitting an abstract to the symposium
is expected in order to be considered for support.
[Excursion & Banquet]
An excursion is planned for the afternoon of Wednesday, September 10,
including a chartered bus trip to Arima Onsen and Mt. Rokko, where
participants can enjoy the scenic area, hot springs, and cable car ride.
The banquet will follow the excursion and is planned to be held at THE
SORAKUEN (https://www.the-sorakuen.jp/en/), located within the beautiful
Japanese garden Sorakuen in downtown Kobe.
After the banquet, return transportation will not be provided.
Participants are kindly asked to return to their accommodations on their
own, either by foot or by public transportation. The nearest station is
Kencho-mae Station (Kobe Municipal Subway).
[Important Dates]
- Abstract Submission Deadline: 20 June 2025
- Registration Deadline with Visa Documents: 30 July 2025
- Early Payment Deadline: 30 July 2025
- Registration Deadline: 30 August 2025
Note: If you require a visa, it takes approximately seven working days
to prepare the visa application documents.
The preparation of visa documents will begin on June 15.
- NuSym25 scientific sessions: 8-12 September 2025
The venue is reserved from September 7–13, 2025 to accommodate satellite
workshops, including the Transport Model Workshop. If you are interested
in organizing a satellite workshop, please contact the organizers in
advance.
